Next up, pad 7

Pad 7 presented a new challenge a little different from pads 5 & 9. It needed a retaining wall to prevent dirt from covering to pad once it was complete. First we cleared and leveled the area using pick axes and shovels. Once the area was level, it was time to cut the wood. We used 4 x 8 wood planks to create the retaining wall. We cut a notch at the end of each board so we could stack and interconnect the pieces. We used a portable drill and wood screws to secure the boards together. We stacked the boards 3 boards high. When we finished it was time to add sand. We used two, 1,000 pound bags of sand to fill the frame.
